Priory Hospital Middleton St George is looking to recruit Speciality Doctors to join the team. This is a full time/37.5 Hour permanent role.
Located in the picturesque village of Middleton St George, Darlington, County Durham (Land of the Prince Bishops), Priory Hospital Middleton St George is set in spacious and relaxing grounds based within a walking distance of Durham Tees Valley International Airport and a short drive away from one of the oldest train stations (Dinsdale) and just five miles from the main Northeast train line station in Darlington. The hospital is within commuting distance of the towns and villages in the Northeast in the Tees valley, County Durham, and North Yorkshire.
We provide a specialist inpatient psychiatric service for adults with mental health issues, complex needs and behaviours that challenge. We provide acute, PICU, rehabilitation, specialist personality disorder and secure care services. We are dedicated to supporting people to transfer effortlessly between the most appropriate care, meeting individual needs, enabling recovery and re-engagement within the community, and maximising life opportunities.
Opportunity has come up for the post of Specialty Doctors to join a team of highly skilled and experienced, dedicated and resilient medical team.
What you'll be doing
You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients’ wellbeing. Our moto is “Live Your Life.” You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.
- Deliver comprehensive clinical care and expert consultation within the specialty area, managing complex and acute cases with precision.
- Lead diagnostic evaluations, including ordering and interpreting advanced tests and imaging, to inform evidence-based treatment plans.
- Contribute to first medical on-call rota (1:6)
- Perform specialized procedures and interventions in accordance with best practices and safety protocols.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams—including nurses, allied health professionals, and other specialists—to coordinate holistic patient management.
- Engage actively in teaching and training medical students, resident medical officers (RMOs), Advanced Nurse Practitioners and the wider MDT, fostering a learning environment and supporting professional development.
- Contribute to clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and research projects to advance specialty knowledge and improve patient outcomes.
- Maintain meticulous and confidential patient records, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.

Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team are required.
